Arsenal will ‘do anything’ to keep Van Persie says Wenger

Van Persie’s blistering form has continued this weekend with two goals, including a delightful late winner, to give Arsenal a 2-1 victory. At times, the Dutchman has won Arsenal points on his own and his brace against Liverpool took his tally to 25 Premier League goals. Van Persie only has 18 months left on his deal and has placed contract negotiations on hold until the summer.
The Dutchman has attracted interest from Barcelona and Real Madrid with the latter’s interest denied by Van Persie following an article printed in Spanish newspaper Marca. Van Persie arrived at the Emirates Stadium from Feyernoord in 2004 and has overcome his injury worries to turn into a talisman for the club following Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri’s departures last summer. Wenger has hinted that the club could break their wage structure to keep the Dutchman and has placed him within the best players in world football.
Wenger said: ‘We will do anything possible to keep him. He’s playing under big pressure every game, because he knows he has to score – that is excellent development not only as a player, but as a human being. He is up there among the best players in the world’.
